Financing housing that is affordable for San Diego's workforce
continues to be a major challenge.  Recently, the San Diego City Council
voted to resend the increase to the Workforce Offset Fee,
also known as the "Linkage Fee."  This fee requires
non-residential development to assist in financing
affordable housing.  The City Council vote also requested
 the interested parties to return in 60 days with a solution.

The San Diego Community College District: 
Construction and Transformation
District Chancellor, Dr. Constance M. Carroll, Board President Rich Grosch,
and others will discuss the enormous progress made
through the district's $1.6 billion bond measures, which have transformed
the campuses of City, Mesa, and Miramar colleges,
as well as the seven campuses of Continuing Education. 
They will also discuss the role of the district in creating
thousands of construction contracts and jobs that benefit
local businesses and workers.

2014 is the 50th Anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act
In commemoration of this historic legislation, The Catfish Club, in
conjunction with the San Diego African American Museum of Fine Art,
will host a discussion on Civil Rights in San Diego. 
Harold Brown, founder of the San Diego Civil Rights Museum,
will discuss San Diego's activities during the turbulent Civil Rights era. 
Your attendance will also allow you to view the civil rights
photo exhibition "In Our Lifetime. . ." installed by SDAAMFA.  
Guest curator for the exhibition is Rev. George Walker Smith.
Please note:  This meeting will be held at Bayview Baptist Church,
in the MLKing, Jr. Center, 6134 Benson Avenue, San Diego 92114.
